The

A team of volunteers working in the Spiritist Federation of the State of São Paulo installed a group of spiritist studies in a room provided by a spiritist center in the Jabaquara neighborhood. Following the activities, people appeared requesting spiritual help (passes) and material support (food and clothing).

With the increase in needy people asking for help, the team decided to have their own place of care. They rented a property in precarious conditions, but that was what the volunteers could afford. Thus, on July 29, the team founded the GSIA – GRUPO SOCORRISTA IRMÃO ALBERTO, at Rua Jorge Tibiriçá, Vila Mariana, to provide material and spiritual assistance to its regulars: about 300 needy families and people seeking help from the Spiritism codified by Allan Kardec.

10 years later, with intense fundraising through internal and external events, donations from individuals and legal entities and effective support, GSIA bought its own headquarters at its current address: Rua Souza Ramos, 54, Vila Mariana, close to the site. the start of its activities.

In the year in which it opened its own headquarters, the GSIA received a proposal from a group of spiritists from the Transitory House of FEESP to carry out assistance activities in Praia Grande, SP, on a lending basis, in the facilities of an institution that requested support in the execution of the assistance to the low-income community in the region. In the place, in 12 years, the work was carried out to support the elderly without families through the CASA DA PAZ project  and also the assistance to needy families through GSAN – GRUPO SOCORRISTA ALVORADA NOVA founded by GSIA to assist the local community, materially and spiritually.

Always following trends in the social area, the GSIA board promoted the Jornada Brasil Coração do Mundo, an event to publicize the work of social entrepreneurs and similar partners. Throughout the month of August, at 4am. fairs, the guests of the 1st, 2nd. and 3rd. Sector presented topics from the social area for debates among those present.

With the objective of sharing the reflections of the Journey, in the month of October, the president of the GSIA, Profa. Eudosia Quinteiro, promoted a seminar at the X Latin American Meeting of Social Communication Faculties – Felafacs 2000, at the Latin America Memorial. In an unprecedented and pioneering way, the event dealt with the Third Sector from the perspective of governmental, business, academic and society initiatives.

With the proposal to promote research on the Third Sector in the academic environment, Prof. Eudosia Quinteiro, promoted the event Fala, Cidadão! Communication in the Third Sector at the School of Communications and Arts, ECA/USP, including the seminar Management of Communication in the Third Sector.

Aiming to disseminate academic research and open paths for other segments to also present their opinions on the Third Sector and related topics, Prof. Eudosia Quinteiro promoted another event at ECA/USP: “Meeting 2003: Communication and the Third Sector”.

With the objective of publicizing the cause and raising funds, the GSIA started its participation in fairs and large events.

  The first performance took place on the 20th. Fispal Alimentos with the unprecedented presentation of products with the biomass of green banana pulp

Based on its philosophical-religious principle of sharing and helping, the GSIA responded to the request of the institution “Casa de Vó Benedita de Angola”  from the community of Pedreira, Capital, sending volunteers for the weekly evangelization of registered families. In addition to donating clothes, shoes, food, toys, monthly some families received basic food baskets, diapers and items for basic needs.

From the first successful experience, the GSIA received invitations from other event promoters such as Alcântara Machado and Francal  Fairs to participate in fairs in Capital, SP, Anhembi and Ibirapuera with products based on Green banana biomass.

  With the Banana Verde Social Project, GSIA also received invitations to events in homes and businesses and to hold training workshops on cooking with green bananas in several municipalities in the Capital, SP.

Expanding its network of relationships and community support, the GSIA started to support and manage the day care center.

To better meet the food needs of those assisted and promote fundraising through gastronomic events, GSIA invested in the structural reform of the school kitchen at the Vila Mariana headquarters.

The

VILA MARIANA UNIT - GSIA intensifies its socio-educational activities with low-income families served at the headquarters. Beneficiaries receive a basic food basket, powdered milk, layettes for newborns, clothes, shoes, blankets, complementary school supplies and other items donated or purchased as needed. Those assisted also receive guidance on how to use the services available on the public network. Moral and civic guidance for a conscious exercise of citizenship is also part of the GSIA's support program. The GSIA projects prioritize the formation of the individual for social inclusion with effective action also in the job market. In this sense, adults, children and adolescents receive literacy classes, tutoring and can participate in projects in cooking, handicrafts and handicrafts, as well as in artistic and cultural activities.

Until the beginning of 2012, some activities were carried out on the street or in the beneficiary's community.

Support for Casa de Vó Benedita de Angola consisted of the free distribution of basic food baskets, powdered milk, diapers, food, bazaar, socio-educational lectures. Activities at the host institution's headquarters

occurred until 2011, when, in November, the GSIA was informed that it could no longer serve needy families in that location. The celebration of Christmas 2011 was held at a buffet (Fazendinha Encantada) in the region with delivery of Christmas bags for children and basic baskets and gifts for families.

The GSIA was informed that it could no longer serve needy families at the host institution's headquarters, so until the beginning of 2012, some activities were carried out on the street or in the beneficiary's community.

Inauguration of the UNIT SISTER BENEDITA, its own headquarters.

The GSIA assumed the support to the community served by the institution Casa de Vó Benedita de Angola. Prevented from serving her at the original location, the GSIA carried out some activities on the streets of the local community. Fortunately, at the beginning of 2012, the GSIA purchased a well-located and organized property to provide quality care to registered beneficiaries, promoting lives, through socio-educational actions with low-income families. Beneficiaries receive a basic food basket, powdered milk, layettes for newborns, clothes, shoes, blankets, complementary school supplies and other items donated or purchased as needed. Those assisted also receive guidance on how to use the services available on the public network. In order to maintain the safety of everyone involved, at the beginning of the pandemic, some interaction activities were suspended, however, families were not helpless. GSIA has always continued with the distribution of basic food baskets and lunchboxes to continue the healthy eating project. In addition, projects such as the clothing campaign, green banana  

As time passed, some of the activities were resumed, taking all safety measures, with the environment controlled to avoid agglomeration, use of masks, gloves and availability of materials for the hygiene of hands and objects.
